Lee W. “Bud” Smith, 86, of Exeter N.H., passed away peacefully on Oct. 9.
Born in Middletown, N.Y. on Oct. 23, 1928, Lee was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Constance (Colby), a remarkable role model and father to his children, Colby, Scott and wife Margaret, Todd and wife Kimberly, and Valerie (Farkas) and husband David; an inspiring grandfather to Rachel, Brandon, Lauren, Bradford, Alexandra, Andrew and Lee; brother to Virginia Quimby; and friend to many.
Lee graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology after serving in the U.S. Navy, and following his service, held a number of executive level management positions in the heavy oil industry in the greater Boston area.
Lee and Connie raised their family in Wenham, Mass., and Hollis, N.H., and spent their summers in Damariscotta where they were involved in their children’s activities and their communities, later moving to Exeter, N.H. in 1986.
He spent the last year of his life at Riverwoods in Exeter where he enjoyed the close friendships he made with the staff and fellow residents. He is seen by his friends and family as an honest, smart, hard working, kind man with a good ear and never fading smile.
Lee is preceded in death by his son, Colby; wife, Connie; and parents, Florence (Lee) and Leroy Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Fri., Oct. 23 at Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, N.H. with a celebration of Lee’s life immediately following at Riverwoods, 10 White Oak Dr., Exeter, NH.
