Leigh W. Apt, 73, of Wiscasset, died Feb. 13 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.
He was born in Dennysville on Nov. 3, 1937, a son of Walter C. and Arlene (Fenderson) Apt. He attended Brunswick schools and graduated from Brunswick High School. He was employed at Lane Construction in Portland. He married Barbara L. Koehling and was employed at Bath Iron Works for over 40 years as a material clerk.
Leigh’s passion was the love of sports, rooting for all New England teams, especially the Boston Red Sox. He watched his grandson at all his sports events. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and recreational lobstering.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara L. Apt of Wiscasset; daughter, Susan L. Apt-Bisson and husband Richard of Topsham; brother, Roy Apt and wife Brenda of Goffstown, N.H.; grandchildren, Joshua L. Bisson and wife Erin of Limerick and Melissa Harper and husband Dana of Bath; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Thurs., Feb. 17 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath. Funeral service 2 p.m., Fri., Feb. 18 at the funeral home. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Kennebec Tavern on Water Street in Bath. Burial will be held at Rogers Cemetery in Topsham in the spring.
