Leland Merle McCluskey, 69, of Waldoboro, died Jan. 11 at Penobscot Bay Medical Center, Rockport.
He was born May 16, 1939, a son of the late Ellery F. Sr. and Nina F. (Townsend) McCluskey. He was a graduated of Rockland High School, class of 1958. Following high school he served honorably with the U.S. Air Force. On Dec. 23, 1963 he married the former Delores “Tootie” Lombardo.
Over the years Mr. McCluskey worked for Harold C. Ralph’s in Waldoboro, S.A.D. 40 as a custodian and retired in 1996 as a guard with the Maine State Prison. He enjoyed watching sports, fishing and planting his garden.
In addition to his wife of more than 45 years, “Tootie” of Waldoboro, he is survived by two daughters, Tina Krupa and husband Raymond of Waldoboro, and Kim Wellman and husband Larry of Waldoboro; sister, Patty Williams of Rockland; brother, Ellery McCluskey Jr. of Thomaston; sister-in-law, Denise Creamer and husband Jeffrey of Waldoboro; three grandchildren, Randy Krupa, and McKenzie and Zachary Wellman; three step-grandchildren, Larry Wellman, Jenny Barnard, and Jimmy Wellman; aunt, Beverly Davis of Connecticut; uncle, Philip Townsend of Lee, Mass.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held at the convenience of his family.
