Lena Anina Carroll, 100, of Waldoboro, passed away Nov. 30 at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta, after a long and happy life.
Lena loved celebrations and recently had a grand party with friends and relatives from all over the country to celebrate her 100th birthday.
Lena was born Sept. 10, 1908 in Lawrence, Mass., a daughter of the late Luigi and Marie Tartarini Abbotoni. She grew up and attended school in Revere, Mass. For 30 years, she was employed as a seamstress in Boston before moving to Maine. She raised laying hens and broiler chickens and was later employed at the Paragon Button Factory.
Lena enjoyed painting and doing many crafts. She especially loved to travel and go shopping.
She was a member of the Waldoboro Senior Citizens, attended the Wilderness Church and the Word of Life Church.
She was predeceased by her son, Peter Gallace; brothers, Anthony and Guy Abbotoni; and sisters, Anna Ripaldi, Rose Howe and Nellie Cohen.
Survivors include her loving son and caregiver, Arthur Pepe of Waldoboro; daughter, Mona Pease and husband Arthur of Appleton; daughter-in-law, Sherry Gallace and companion Ron Golder of Waldoboro; grandchildren, David Pease and Ed Tobolski of Belgrade, Shelley Pease and Mark Wallace of Waldoboro, Lana and Alex Arau of Rockport, Susie and Peter Pease of Warren, Peter and Gwendolyn Gallace of Jefferson, and Tony and Melissa Gallace of Warren; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Emily Pease of Warren, Andrew Gallace of Damariscotta, and Tori and Colby Arau of Rockport; and special friends, Leslie Wallace of Waldoboro and Elise Wallace of Friendship.
Celebration of her life 11 a.m., Thurs., Dec. 4 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
