Leo John O’Connor Jr., 74, of Bremen, beloved husband of the late Diane Hilton O’Connor, passed away peacefully Dec. 2 at Maine Medical Center in Portland after complications incurred from a fall. Leo was born June 12, 1937 in Washington, D.C., the son of the late Leo John O’Connor Sr. and Evelyn Jackson O’Connor. His grandfather was a second cousin to Stonewall Jackson.
Leo was a graduate of the University of Maryland, and received his Masters from American University. He met his lovely bride, Diane of 44 years, in Washington, D.C. where they lived until his retirement of a lifelong career at Bell Atlantic/Verizon. In 1996, they moved to Diane’s hometown in Bremen where they lived out their remaining happy years.
Leo is predeceased by loving wife of 44 years, Diane O’Connor, who passed away Nov. 24; and by his parents.
Leo is survived by his sisters, Judith O’Connor Smith of Annapolis, Md., and Evelyn Marsden of Landover, Md.; nieces and nephews, Lisa Rogers Medlock of New York, N.Y., William Michael Rogers of Odenton, Md., Mary Kremp Varfis of Arlington, Va., and AnneMarie Stash of Cape Coral, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Mary Sue Weeks of Bremen, and Cynthia Wass and husband Arnold of Rockland; and brother-in-law, William Doane and his wife Mary of Ft. Myers, Fla.
A private family committal service will be held at the Broad Cove Cemetery in Bremen.
