
Leonard O. Pufahl, of Portsmouth, N.H., passed away on Jan. 16 at Massachusetts General Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born Dec. 4, 1943 in Horicon, Wis. to the late Elmer and Cynthia Pufahl. Leonard graduated from Horicon High School in 1962.
After high school Leonard joined the Air Force and served from 1962-1970 with one tour in Vietnam from 1966-1967. While in the Air Force he got stationed at Pease Air National Guard Base and fell in love Portsmouth and the New Hampshire seacoast and started his family in Portsmouth. He worked for Public Service Company (now Eversource) of New Hampshire for almost 40 years.
Leonard enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything that involved being outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sheila (Campbell) Pufahl of Portsmouth, N.H.; sons, Alan, Carl, and Christopher and wife Claudine Pufahl of Portsmouth, N.H.; grandchildren, Rachelle, Kyle, Nicholas, Jack, and Riley Pufahl, all of Portsmouth, N.H. Leonard is one of 13 children and is survived by all: sisters: Carole Korht, Nancy Peterson, Lynette Seets, Mae Carlson, Lindy Kane, Cindy Rechek, Cheryl Jacobson; and brothers, David, Harley, Lester, Roy and Fred Pufahl. He is also survived by several family members and friends in Lincoln County.
A celebration of life will be held in late spring here in Maine, to be announced in The Lincoln County News at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, all memorial donations may be made to the scholarship fund at Horicon High School, 841 Gray St., Horicon WI 5303, attention: June Scherbl, in memory of Leonard Pufahl.
