Leonidas C. Seferlis, 42, of Washington, D.C., died on Oct. 14 due to liver complications at the home he shared with his girlfriend.
Born on June 13, 1967 in Washington, D.C., Leonidas attended St. Albans School ’85 and Bowdoin College ’89, including one year abroad at the London School of Economics. He worked as a bike messenger and was an avid cyclist, participating in as many local races he could, especially in Washington proper. He also loved scuba diving, which dates back to his youth when he spent summers in Pemaquid on the Maine coast. Leonidas also enjoyed downhill snow skiing, and Stowe, Vt., was his favorite spot for skiing. He became especially fond of Tilghman Island, Md., and would go there as often as time permitted. He always had his nose in a book; there were never less than three or four books by his nightstand next to his bed.
Leonidas was predeceased by his parents Marion A. Seferlis and Constantine L. Seferlis.
He is survived by his brother Clift Andrus Seferlis of Garrett Park, Md.
Services Nov. 2 at the Washington National Cathedral and a private burial took place at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be submitted to The Oak Hill Cemetery Restoration and Beautification Fund, 3001 R Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20007.
