Leroy R. Colby, 87, of Wiscasset, died March 30 at his residence.
He was born in Bath on April 2, 1922, a son of Lineus and Ethel (Lewis) Colby. He attended Wiscasset schools and on Dec. 31, 1942 he married Lillian Gagnon. Leroy was self employed as a marine worm digger and then owned and operated his welding business across the street from his home.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bath.
Leroy enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, riding his four wheeler and camping at the West Forks.
He was predeceased by brothers, Perley Colby and Reginald Colby and sister, Louise Pinkham.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lillian G. Colby of Wiscasset; sons, Ralph Colby and wife Donna of Wiscasset, Michael Colby of Pitmen, Penn. and Daniel Colby of Wiscasset; daughters, Deanna Piccirillo and husband Joe of Wiscasset and Lori Wycoff and husband Guy of Franklin; sister, Dorothy Colby of Bath; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Mon., April 5 at Daigle Funeral Home, 40 Federal St., Wiscasset. Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m., Tues., April 6 at All Saints Parish at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 144 Lincoln St., Bath. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset.
