Lewis Austin Havener, 69, of Friendship, died Oct. 24 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born July 26, 1941 in Waldoboro, the son of the late Austin and Louise Burns Havener.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1967.
He enjoyed camping at Lake Pemaquid, playing cards, dancing, taking long rides on the weekends, watching his granddaughter, Rebecca, play tennis and basketball, and hanging around with his special friends, Brian and Bertha Foote and Jim and Kathy McGuire.
He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and the Warren Odd Fellows.
He was a meat cutter for 20 years at various stores. He was employed at B.I.W. for 18 years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Patricia A. Havener of Friendship; daughters, Rhonda Havener of Friendship and Debbie Havener of Rockland; grandchildren, Justin Brazier of Friendship, Thomas and Paige Powell of Friendship, Hailey Brazier of Waldoboro, and Rebecca Robinson of Friendship; brother-in-law, Virgil Simmons and wife Susan of Friendship; sisters-in-law, Brenda Willey of Waldoboro, Sandra Mank of Waldoboro, Pamela Simmons and companion Carroll Willey of Waldoboro, Diana Benner and husband Wayne of Friendship, and
Andrea Bragg and husband William of Waldoboro; special Aunt, Gladys Fullerton of Rockland; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and beloved Pomeranian, “Brady.”
Memorial service with military honors 2 p.m., Sat., Oct. 30 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Burial will follow in the Roadside Cemetery in Friendship. Reception will follow the service at the home of Virgil and Susan Simmons, Cushing Rd., Friendship.
