Lloyd C. Farrin, Sr., 80, of Edgecomb, died May 31 at St. Andrews Retirement Center in Boothbay.
He was born March 22, 1926, in Mansfield, Mass., son of Uriel Lewis Farrin and Lillian Hastings Claggett. Lloyd grew up in Saugus, Mass. graduating from Saugus High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy as Fireman, First Class on the USS Gunnel based out of New London, Conn. from April 1944 – 1946. He received the WWII Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Area Medal, and 1 Star.
In 1947, Lloyd married Natalie McAdoo, also a graduate of Saugus High School. He graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1952. Together they raised four children in Topsfield, Mass. Lloyd retired from Honeywell after 30 years in 1992, then worked several years for Home Depot in Danvers, Mass. He was a member of the U.S. Submarine Veterans WWII Bay State North Chapter, Marblehead, Mass.
The last surviving grandson of Charles Albert Farrin of South Bristol, Lloyd became a Maine resident in 2001 where he thoroughly enjoyed the company of relatives and friends, good music, nature and remembering the Maine of his youth.
Lloyd was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Natalie McAdoo, and nine brothers and sisters.
He leaves four children, Lloyd Farrin, Jr. of Monson, Mass., Linda Morkeski of Damariscotta, Mona Farrin of Hamilton, Mass., and Mark Farrin of Temecula, Cal. He was the loving grandfather of eight grandchildren and one great grandchild and leaves many nieces and nephews. He also leaves a cherished caregiver and special friend, Amy Poole, of Edgecomb.
Celebration of Life service 12:50 p.m., Fri., June 16 at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Harrington Meeting House, The South Bristol Historical Society, or The Alzheimer’s Foundation.
