Logan G. Rice, 15, of Bremen, passed away with her family by her side at the Maine Medical Center in Portland on Feb. 20. Born in Damariscotta on Sept. 13, 1994, she was the daughter of Herbert and Lisa (Griffin) Rice of Bremen.
Logan grew up in Bremen and attended Great Salt Bay School in Damariscotta for several years before attending the Merrymeeting Center for Child Development in Bath. She loved her years at the Merrymeeting Center and the students and teachers alike became her extended family.
Logan was an engaging and endearing free spirit who touched everyone she met. She was immediately interested in everything and everybody she encountered. An ever-curious soul, she had no problems asking, or telling, anyone what was on her mind. Her bluntness may have caught some off guard, but it was one of her many qualities that those who knew her loved.
She adored animals and had a special way with all creatures. She often volunteered at kennels and shelters just so she could spend time with them. She also loved spending time with her family and friends, as well as swimming in her pool.
She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Leroy and Beatrice Rice.
She is survived by her devoted parents, Herbert and Lisa Rice of Bremen; brother, Ryan Parlin of Bremen; sister, Whitney Rice of New Harbor; maternal grandparents, Roy and Sandra Griffin of Bristol; aunts and uncles, Bobby and Rose Prior of Damariscotta, Mark and Audrey Prior of Bristol, Barry Prior of New Harbor, Kathy Prior of Bristol, John Prior of Bristol, Karen Westhaver of Bristol, Janet and Charlie Frey of Jacksonville, Fla., Marcia and Bobby Mortimer of Bremen, Linda Rice of Warren and Randy and Christina Rice of Freeport; dogs, Hobie, Sidney and Ruby; cat, Bella; and floppy eared bunny, Flower; as well as many cousins and friends.
Service for Logan 10 a.m., Sat., Feb. 27 in the gymnasium of the Great Salt Bay School in Damariscotta.
