Lois A. Hedberg, 79, of Damariscotta, died peacefully on Oct. 28 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
Born on July 23, 1930 in Boston, Mass., she was the daughter of Howard H. and Florence Pride Stacey. She attended primary schools in Belmont, Mass.
While attending Boston University, she worked at MIT and participated on the MIT Sailing Team, where she met her former husband, John G. Hedberg.
“Nana Lolo” loved singing in the North Jersey Operetta Guild, and the Damariscotta Baptist Church Choir. She enjoyed spending summers at the family cottage on Swain’s Lake in East Barrington, N.H. She loved the theater and her trips to NYC with her friends. She was an avid bridge player and reader; her favorite author being Louis L’Amour. Lois traveled to Norway, Spain and across the United States. She was extremely patriotic.
She is survived by her daughters, Ann-Marie and husband Richard Hight, Laura and husband Dick Pierce, and Kristina and husband Javier Caballero; brother, Howard H. Stacey, Jr.; sister, Edna Stacey Light; six grandchildren, Katherine, Nolan, and Karoline Hight, Emily Pierce, and Sonja and Noah Caballero; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many loving relatives and friends.
Memorial service for Lois will be held in New Hampshire in the summer.
