Lorraine G. Chaples, 81, of Waldoboro, and longtime resident of New Bedford, Mass., died Feb. 4 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport after long period of failing health.
Mrs. Chaples was born Jan. 6, 1928 in New Bedford, Mass., the daughter of Joseph Ernest and Loretta Vient Lizotte, and attended schools in New Bedford.
She and her husband Roland moved to Waldoboro in 1979, where they traveled the state of Maine in their camper, searching for new fishing holes to explore, and most recently, camped for months at a time in the Eagle Lake area.
She loved to knit and do hand crafts.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Roland W. Chapel of Waldoboro; three sons, Donald Lizotte of Stoneville, N.C., Charles Chaples of Marion, Mass., and Earle Chaples of New Bedford, Mass.; three daughters, Rolanda Garcia of Newport, R.I., Beverly Francis of Fairhaven, Mass., and Florence Skinner of Fairhaven, Mass.; brother, Ernest Lizotte of Fairhaven, Mass.; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be private. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford, Mass.
