Louis J. Crouch, 81, of Somerset, N.J., died Nov. 15 at Mc Carrick Care Center in Somerset. Mr. Crouch was born in New Brunswick, N.J., and was a long time
resident of the area until he moved to Damariscotta in 1989. He returned to New Jersey in 2002.
Mr. Crouch was a Past Communicant of Sacred Heart Church in New Brunswick. He was well known at Sacred Heart for his involvement in the development of the Sacred Heart Pop Warner Football Team.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was employed by PSE&G for 37 years and retired in 1988 as a Division Line Foreman.
Mr. Crouch was an accomplished carver, creating decorative wildlife and decoys. An avid saltwater fisherman, he was a member of the Berkley Strip Surf Club.
Mr. Crouch was predeceased by his wife Catherine in 2002; and
brothers, Robert and Howard.
He is survived by his children, Michael Patrick Crouch and wife Lou Jean of Charleston, S.C., Mary Margaret Spuhler and husband Fran of Moorestown, N.J., Mary Elizabeth Rainey and husband Rick of Flemington, N.J., Richard F. Crouch and wife Lori of North Brunswick, N.J., Mary Catherine O’Mahoney of Piscataway, N.J. and Dr. James J. Crouch and wife Doris of Virginia Beach, Va.; and 14 grandchildren.
Visitation 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Thurs., Nov. 18 at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St., Somerset, N.J. Services 9 a.m., Fri., Nov. 19 at the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 a.m. funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church in New Brunswick, N.J. Burial will follow at Saint Peter Cemetery, New Brunswick.
