Louis R. Hardy, 90, passed away on March 6 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Togus with his three children at his side.
He was born at Salt Lake City, Ut. on June 11, 1916.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1938-1946. Following his military service, Louis worked for AT&T (Longlines) for over 37 years.
He married Frances Ethel Cotton on Sept. 2, 1944.
A master gardener, Louis was well known for his incredible gardens of vegetables, flowers, and fruits.
He is survived by his three children, Sylvia Small of Vinalhaven, Kenneth Hardy of Monterey, Cal., and Susan Hardy of Woodland Hills, Cal.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours were held March 10, followed by a celebration of his life at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Damariscotta.
Arrangements were entrusted to Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Waldoboro.
