Lovetta Maldovan, 91, of Augusta and Smithfield Woodside, Penn., passed away on Sept. 10 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Long Term Care, Augusta, following a long and courageous battle with dementia. She was born on July 17, 1922, daughter of the late Francis A. and Salina Mae (Tate) Price.
Mrs. Maldovan was a resident of Smithfield Woodside, Penn. and a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church for many years. Lovetta was always a homemaker. The family always had a large garden and raised animals: cows, pigs, chickens, rabbits, etc. They also had cats and dogs. Lovetta did a lot of canning and made wonderful jellies. Lovetta was active in her church. She loved children and animals. She always had room for stray animals. Lovetta was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She helped create cherished family memories.
Mrs. Maldovan was predeceased by her husband, John Maldovan; and son, Richard Maldovan.
She is survived by daughter, Cynthia Stanton and husband Dan of California; sons, Gerald and wife Judith of Whitefield, Edward and wife Victoria of Pennsylvania, Thomas and wife Betty Carol of Pennsylvania; and Franklin and wife Kathy of Pennsylvania; daughter-in-law, Janet Maldovan; 14 grandchildren and their spouses; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, those who desire may make donations in Lovetta’s memory to your local Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice.
Burial and services will be held in Pennsylvania.
