Lucinda Grace Krauter, 65, of Raymond, passed away Oct. 10 at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn after a brief battle with cancer.
Lucinda was born in Portland Aug. 27, 1943, the daughter of Franklin and Kora Temple Farmer, growing up in Falmouth and is a graduate of Falmouth High School, and received her bachelor’s degree in English.
She taught school in New Jersey after graduation, and then worked for the Baltimore Sun. She also worked at several ad agencies in Boston and edited books at the Addison Wesley before returning to Maine and working for the Portland Press Herald.
Lucinda met her loving husband Martin Thomas Krauter while working in Boothbay.
The family moved to Raymond soon after the birth of her only son Benjamin Bernhard. She returned to school and earned her Masters degree in Counseling from the University of Southern Maine in Gorham.
Lucinda received her LCPC license from the State of Maine and counseled clients for 13 years beginning in Windham, and then moving her practice to Raymond where she had a home office.
Lucinda was an avid scrabble player and was ranked by the National Scrabble Association, attending many tournaments and winning the Cape Cod Regional Tournament in her class in 2007. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, seeing her clients, camping with her husband in their RV, watching her son grow, develop, graduate from law school, meet his fiancée Angela Goodwin of Turner, supporting her husband and son while they raced at Oxford Plains raceway, attending concerts with her husband and spending time with her cat Spec.
Survivors include her husband Martin Thomas Krauter and son, Benjamin Bernhard Krauter, both of Raymond.
Celebration of Lucinda’s life 11 a.m., Tues., Oct. 14 at the Southport United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Plaisted officiating. Interment will be in the Decker Cemetery.
