Lucy Ann Levitt, 92, of Dresden, passed away on the morning of Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Winship Green Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Bath. She was born April 5, 1927 in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of the late Walter and Monica (Pitrowska) Skibinski.
After graduating high school, she worked as an infant nurse at the New York Foundling Hospital in New York. In 1953, she enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served until 1955, attaining the rank of Corporal. While serving as a Marine, she met Douglas L. Levitt Jr., and they were married on May 28, 1955. Upon her honorable discharge, she worked for many years in retail sales until her retirement.
Besides her parents, Lucy was predeceased by her brother, Emil Skibinski; and her sister, Monica Siwinski.
In addition to her husband, Douglas, she is survived by five nephews, Don, Conrad and Jon Skibinski, and Edmund and Gregory Siwinski; a niece, Jessica Wigley; a grand-nephew, Joseph L. Wigley; and four grand-nieces, Stephanie King, Jennifer Edelen, Ana Li Siwinski, and Mai Li Siwinski.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a service to celebrate Lucy’s life with military honors, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19 at the chapel of the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
