Lyra Ilene Trott, 62, passed away on March 3 at her home in Gardiner.
A Boothbay Harbor native, Lyra lived in Maine her entire life, graduating from Boothbay Region High School before moving to the Gardiner area where she spent most of her life working as an educator of students with special needs in the Hall-Dale public schools.
Lyra loved nature and the ocean and spent many happy days camping with her family and relaxing at her sister’s seaside camp in Edgecomb. A talented artist, voracious reader, and connoisseur of crossword puzzles, Lyra will be most missed for her quick wit and boundless sense of humor.
Lyra is predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Timothy Trott of Gardiner; father, Melville Whitcomb; as well as siblings Linda Whitcomb, Bruce Whitcomb, and Steven Whitcomb.
Lyra is survived by daughters, Sarah Paterson and husband Timothy Donohue of Andover, Mass., and Brie-Anne Mellor and husband Dustin of Windsor; beloved sister, Lisa Gustafson and husband Benhard “Gus” of Wiscasset; dear mother, Avis Bowers of Wiscasset; four grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will be holding a private memorial service.
Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
