M. Louise Reed, 83, of Friendship, died April 2 at her home. She was born July 7, 1929 in Rockland to John and Zilda Crouse Nystrom. She grew up in Rockland and attended local schools.
Louise worked as a fish cutter at Forty Fathoms in Rockland for many years. She later worked as a painter and caretaker for the Wellins Estate in Friendship. She loved puttering in her flower gardens, sewing, quilting, painting, crocheting and eating ice cream. She loved to travel and took many trips to casinos, cruises and a six-month road trip out west to California, Alaska and back to Maine with her husband, Bob.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Carl Nystrom, and Lawrence Nystrom; and sister, Inez Nystrom.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert A. Reed of Friendship; daughters, Wendi Munson of Rhode Island and Barbie Reed of New York; sister, Beesha Hackett of Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Barbara Nystrom of Friendship; grandchildren, Michael Lunt of California, Robert Lunt of New York, Laura Maher and husband Dave of Connecticut, and Susan Munson of Rhode Island; and great-grandchildren, Justin Thomas Lunt of California and Emmelyn Maher of Connecticut.
Graveside service to celebrate Louise’s life 2 p.m., Mon., April 8 at the Village Cemetery in Friendship. Rev. Alan Chamberlain will officiate.
