Madolyn Wood Cleaves, 90, of Browns Cove, Round Pond, and North Palm Beach, Fla., died June 13 at Maine Medical Center in Portland following a brief illness.
Mrs. Cleaves was born Oct. 19, 1922 in Mt. Kisco, N.Y. to Margaret and Harold Wood, and was raised in the Pleasantville and Armonk, N.Y. area. She graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1940, and was a long-time employee of the General Foods Corporation.
Madolyn Wood married Herbert M. Cleaves in May of 1964. They spent their time between Browns Cove and Florida. Mrs. Cleaves was an avid golfer, bridge player and a brilliant hostess.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert M. Cleaves.
She is survived by her step-children, Deborah Scott of Hull, Mass., Craig Cleaves of Round Pond, and Linda Farrell of Round Pond; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Thurs., June 20 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Newcastle.
