The fishing community lost another one of their own when Maitland Roger Williams passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2019. Maitland was born in Damariscotta, the son of Roger and Jacqueline Williams, and was 37 years old.
He lived his entire life in Bremen, and was a 2001 graduate of Lincoln Academy. Maitland was happiest when he was at sea, and hence made a career of commercial fishing. His work carried him from Alaska to Mississippi, and up and down the east coast. He made many friends along the way, who loved him for his great sense of humor and storytelling. He loved to play his guitar and draw.
He will be missed by his mother, father and sister; along with many friends and family. The family dog, Ursa, will miss him coming home.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 21 at Shaw’s Wharf in New Harbor. Please join his family to share stories, memories and pictures. All fishermen from near and far who would like to bring their boats are invited to meet in New Harbor at 10 a.m. (prior to the celebration) to form a fleet and take his ashes out to sea.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta. Condolences, and messages for his family, may be expressed by visiting StrongHancock.com.
