Margaret M. “Peggy” Cate, 97, of Black Mountain, N.C., died June 27 at the Highland Farms Health Care Center in Black Mountain.
She was a native of Bridgeport, Conn. and a long-time resident of Fairfield, Conn. She moved to Hinckley in 1966 and then to Wiscasset shortly thereafter. She was very active in the life of the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset. She moved to Highland Farms in 2003.
She was the daughter of the late Dudley Mixer and Edna Grippin Morris. She also was predeceased by her loving husband, Russell Cate and beloved daughter Martha Cate.
She is survived by her son, Dudley Cate and wife Joanne of Asheville, N.C.; grandchildren, Andrew Cate, Lauren McGahan and husband Thomas, and Russell Cate and partner John Rider; and great-grandchildren, Emma, Julia, Margaret (“Meg”) and Patrick McGahan.
