Margaret Ostrander Murray, 96, of Jefferson, entered into rest Jan. 15 at Country Manor Nursing Home in Coopers Mills.
Born April 12, 1910, in New Haven, Conn., she was the daughter of Harry Judd Ostrander and Frances Lambert Ostrander.
She graduated from high school in New Haven, Conn., and from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass. in 1932.
On Dec. 11, 1937, she married The Rev. Frederic Richardson Murray. They resided in Collinsville, Conn.; Branford, Conn.; Elkins Park, Penn.; and Erie, Penn., where Fr. Murray was dean of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Paul from 1955 until 1975. Upon retirement in 1975, they moved to Jefferson.
Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband in 1996.
She is survived by a daughter, Frances Murray Hargreaves and husband Robert of Jefferson; son, Frederic Ostrander Murray and wife Susan of Madison, Wis.; grandchildren, Frederic Blackstone Murray and wife Ching Wong of Madison, Wis., Hannah Barnes Murray of Madison, Wis., Alan Frederic Hargreaves of Newcastle, and Robert Murray Hargreaves of Winthrop; and great-grandchildren, Amelia Morgan Wong Murray and Frederic Jasper Wong Murray of Madison, Wis., and Nathan Alan Hargreaves of Newcastle.
Memorial service at 2 p.m., Sun., Feb. 11 at St. Giles Episcopal Church, Rte. 126, Jefferson, followed by a reception at the church.
