Margaret R. “Peggy” Gaglione, 85, of Jefferson, passed away on June 21 at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta, with her family by her side. She was born on Jan. 3, 1933 in Hartford, Conn. to Dennis Whittle and Violet (Baker) Whittle.
Peggy attended Tenafly High School. She was married to her husband Don for 56 years. Peggy was a homemaker and sold Avon for over 20 years. She loved music and played the piano and organ at church, was the choir director for the First Baptist Church in Jefferson, was a member of the Eastern Star in Tenafly, N.J., Chapter 266 and was a very active member at the Lake View Chapter #179 where she served many times as Worthy Matron. She also played an active role in Hearts Ever Young (HEY) productions. She and her husband lived in Maine for 34 years.
She was predeceased by her parents; daughter, Cheryl in 1984; and granddaughter, Krissy in 1979.
Peggy is survived by husband, Donald Gaglione of Jefferson; son, Ralph Gaglione of Union, N.J.; daughter, Celine Laverty and companion Mike Shiakallis of Jefferson; sisters, Geraldine Lehmann and husband Marty of Cresskill, N.J., and Edna Rogers and husband Joe of Alexandra, Va.; sister-in-law, Patricia (Gaglione) Hastings and husband Don of Jefferson; grandchildren, Richelle, Jennifer, Donald, Nicholas, Victoria, Dennis, and Harlan; great-grandchildren, Nicole, Skylar, Evangeline, Kole, Kylie, and Harley; and great-great-granddaughter, Emma May.
Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 p.m., Sun., July 1 at Hall’s of Waldoboro, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Mon., July 2 at Hall Cemetery, East Pond Rd., Jefferson, with Pastor Bette Bond officiating.
