Marguerite R. Perkins, 87, of Augusta, died unexpectedly on June 24 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta.
She was born in Augusta on Sept. 16, 1922, the daughter of Joseph and Marion (Jones) Christian.
Marguerite graduated from Cony High School in 1941 and attended Thomas College in Waterville. She had worked as a medical secretary for several area doctors and dentists.
She enjoyed the outdoors, working in her garden and feeding the birds. She was a member of the Augusta Nature Club and the American Legion Post 205 Auxiliary.
She had a love for animals, especially her dog Missy.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles D. Perkins in 1984.
She is survived by daughters, Marsha Morgan and husband Peter of Windham, Cheryl Campbell and husband Ralph of Wiscasset and Debra Getchell and husband Jason of Belgrade; grandchildren, Tracy Morgan, Michael Morgan, Heather Deschaine and husband Richard, and James Campbell; great-grandson, Lorik Morgan; and several cousins.
At her request, there will be no visiting. Graveside service 2 p.m., Wed., June 30 at Mount Hope Cemetery, Augusta.
