Marie J. Perrello, 78, of Edgecomb, passed away May 2 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta, following a brief illness.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Zaher Onorato. Marie attended local schools in Brooklyn, N.Y. but left to help raise her siblings.
On May 26, 1951, she married Dominick Perrello in Brooklyn, N.Y.
In her neighborhood, as a young woman, she made wedding dresses and clothes for neighborhood celebrations. She was also known for her cooking skills and she enjoyed making Italian meals.
First and foremost was her love for the Lord and her 64-year membership with the Church of Jesus Christ; in the Brunswick branch she served as a Deaconess for 30 years.
She enjoyed gardening and especially loved her flower gardens.
Marie is predeceased by her husband, Dominick R. Perrello.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Corson and husband Joseph of Bristol, and Jeanette Israel of Brooklyn, N.Y.; son, Donald Perrello and wife Ann of Sheepscot; grandchildren, Andrew Corson of Bristol, Mike Israel and wife Christine of Brooklyn, N.Y., Kimberly McClelland and husband Frederick of Wiscasset, and Jayson Perrello of Sheepscot; sister, Dorothy Calabro of Hopelawn, N.J.; brothers, Richard Onorato and wife Mary of Wiscasset, Edward of Edgecomb, and Robert and Cynthia of Bristol; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Marie’s life 3 p.m., Sat., May 12 at the Church of Jesus Christ, Coombs Rd., Brunswick.
She will be buried beside her husband at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
