Marilyn Currier, 83, of Farmington, passed peacefully on Sept. 7 at Jefferson Green, an assisted living facility in Jefferson. In more recent years, because of failing health, she often was cared for by her daughter, Louise, in much the same way she lovingly cared for her own mother, Hattie Sprague.
Marilyn was born on Oct. 23, 1930 in Wilton, a daughter of Carroll Edgar and Hattie Esther (Welch) Sprague. She received her education in local schools.
On July 19, 1979, she married her true soul mate, Charles Currier at their camp on Flagstaff Lake. He predeceased her on May 11, 2011. She was a devoted homemaker who loved caring for her family. She and her husband enjoyed camping and travelling. She also was a seamstress and a gardener with a green thumb, always able to keep a Christmas cactus blossoming year round.
A hobby, which is now a cherished “gift” to her family, are the fact-filled, love inspired journals that she kept, documenting the activities and daily routines of her family.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Willis L. Chick and wife Pat of Farmington, Charles T. Chick and wife Debbie M. of Antrim, N.H., Roger D. Chick of Rumford, and Louise E. Webber and husband Chip of Jefferson; sister, Geneva Brakefield of Chesterville; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces. She was predeceased by her little dog, Penny.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Rd. (Rts. 2 and 27), Farmington from 4-6 p.m., Tues., Sept. 9. Funeral services will be held at the Center, 11 a.m., Wed., Sept. 10. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Wilton.
Remembrance gifts in her memory may be given to the Jefferson Green, attn: Joyce, 77 Waldoboro Rd., Jefferson, ME 04348, in grateful consideration for the care she received at this assisted living center.
Tributes and condolences may be shared and her memorial video may be watched on her memorial wall at www.wilesrc.com.
