Marilyn E. Spinney, 81, of Southport, died June 14 at St. Andrews Gregory Wing in Boothbay Harbor. She was born Jan. 20, 1929 in Boothbay Harbor, a daughter of Chester and Ruth Gray Sherman. Marilyn grew up and attended local schools in Boothbay Harbor. She graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School in the class of 1946. She attended Gorham Normal School.
She worked in medical records at St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor. She also worked as a medical secretary for Dr. Phillip Gregory.
She was a member of the Southport United Methodist Church where she was very active as a choir member. She was an avid collector of coins, stamps, dolls, thimbles and whatever treasure she would find at garage sales or auctions.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Rosemary Spinney.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ralph Spinney of Southport; son, Ronald Spinney of Southport; grandchildren, Jennifer Spinney of Southport and Jeffrey Spinney of Southport; nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 10 a.m., Thurs., June 17 at the Southport United Methodist Church with Pastor Lisa Burger officiating. Burial will be in the Oceanview Cemetery in Boothbay.
