Marilyn Hysom O’lalor, 73, of Patten, died at St. Josephs Hospital in Bangor on March 4. She was born in Portland Oct. 5, 1934, a daughter of Derrell and Delia Hoffses Hysom. Marilyn grew up in Portland and attended schools there, spending her summers on Louds Island. Married at 18, she was a homemaker and loved raising her family.
She enjoyed watching Jeopardy & Wheel of Fortune, loved to talk and spend time with her family. She moved to Patten in the late 1990’s. She had previously lived in Portland. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends and helpers in the area.
She was predeceased by her son, Olin Hysom; grandsons, Ryan Stetson, Ernest Sheffield, and Jason Wells; and great grand-daughter Mahkayla Ingalls.
Survivors include sons, Derrell Hysom and George Sleeper of Lewiston, Leland Stetson and wife Linda of Wasilla, Ark., Royce Sleeper and wife Jen of Taunton, Mass., Chris Sleeper and his wife Tracy of Gardner, Mass., and Warren Wells and wife Linda of Scranton, Penn.; five daughters, Holly A Sheffield of Quincy, Mass., Crystal Eroglu and husband Ekram of Randolph, Mass., Gloria Wells Skirvin of Hartford, Conn., Kathy Skiba of Pullman, Wash., and Mary Farist of Braselton, Ga.; uncle Ralph Hoffses and wife Gertrude of Waldoboro; 23 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service 11 a.m., Thurs., March 20 at the Pentecostal Church, 101 Main St., Patten. Burial will be in the Sweetland Cemetery in Waldoboro in the spring.
