Marion C. Chubbuck, 93, of Woolwich, passed away on Nov. 30 at a local hospital with her loving family by her side.
She was born at home in Woolwich on Jan. 8, 1914, the daughter of Jesse M. and Auta Russell Munsey. She attended local schools.
On Feb. 5, 1929 she married Harvey H. Chubbuck in Wiscasset.
Marion was a woman with a gentle voice and a kind heart that was always clear on where she stood on matters. She was an avid collector of plates, mustache cups, dishes, and pigs that totaled over 3000. She enjoyed sewing, making quilts, and always made the best apple pies and yeast rolls.
She worked as a cook at the New Meadows restaurant for over 10 years, the Bounty as a breakfast cook for more than 20 years, and a short stint at Larry’s Market, until she was fired because she wouldn’t sell beer.
Marion was a member of the Woolwich Grange for over 55 years where she served many terms as Master and Chaplain and was also a member of the National Grange.
She was predeceased by her husband on May 1, 1985; son, Harvey G. Munsey; daughter, Blanche Auta “Tootsie” Munsey; brothers, David and James Munsey; and sisters, Hazel Munsey, Nancy Spinney, and Laura Main.
She is survived by daughters, Patricia L. and husband Keith Bridgham of Wiscasset, Jacqueline H. and husband Raymond E. Durgan of Popham Beach, and Susan N. and husband Edward Ackerman of South Carolina; sons, Kenneth T. and wife Rita Chubbuck of Norridgewock, Jesse M. and wife Barbara J. Chubbuck of Nobleboro, and Peter C. and wife Donna M. Chubbuck of Woolwich; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Elaine Mitchell of Bath, and Geraldine Hinckley of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours 3-5 p.m., Tues., Dec. 4 at the David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath.
Funeral 10 a.m., Wed., Dec. 5 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the spring at Grover Cemetery, Woolwich.
