Marion P Jones, 78, a longtime resident of the Gregory Wing at St. Andrews Village and formerly of East Boothbay, died Nov. 10 at her residence after a long period of failing health and memory.
Marion was born Jan. 3, 1932 in Boothbay Harbor, the daughter of Luther and Laura Pinkham, and is a graduate of Boothbay Harbor High School.
After her graduation, she began working at Seader’s Drug Store in the Harbor, she also worked at Emerson’s Smorgasbord Restaurant in Edgecomb, and for over 25 years was a teacher’s aide in the Boothbay School District, primarily in the elementary school.
Marion loved to knit, do needlepoint, hook rugs and enjoyed being outdoors. She kept her family supplied with knit hats, mittens and beautiful sweaters.
Marion is predeceased by her husband, J. Ervin Jones; brothers, Bradford, Kenneth and Henry Pinkham; and sisters, Bessy Emerson, Estella Kelly, Lydia Simpson and Gail Simmons.
Survivors include her sons, James Jones and wife Rachel of East Boothbay and Mark Jones and wife Debby of Boothbay; grandchildren, Zachary Jones of Burlington, Vt., Caroline Jones of Boothbay, Eliza Jones of Durham and Haley Jones and Meryl Jones, both of Boothbay; sister, Marilyn Tibbetts of Boothbay Harbor; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m., Mon., Nov. 15 at the Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home, 975 Wiscasset Rd., Boothbay. Private interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Boothbay Harbor.
