Marise Schroeder Blomquist, 84, of Newcastle, died peacefully at her son Paul’s home Feb. 27.
Marise (Mi Mi) was born May 5, 1927 on High St., Damariscotta to LeRoy and Bertha (Clark) Schroeder. She attended local schools and graduated from Lincoln Academy in 1945.
Marise worked for many local businesses, most notably Yellowfront Grocery and Lincoln Theatre. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Damariscotta.
Known for always sporting one of her colorful hats, Mimi enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, rug hooking and most of all talking and laughing. Her two latest projects were knitting cotton dishcloths – she met her goal of 100 for the church fair; and her ongoing project knitting mittens of all sizes and colors to donate to local children.
Besides her parents, Marise was predeceased by her brother, Carroll Schroeder of Westport Island.
She leaves behind her greatest pride, her sons, Philip and wife Linda, LeRoy and partner Frank, Paul and wife Jo Anne, and George and partner Mark; granddaughters, Erin and Kirstin; cousins, Carroll and Lorna Schroeder; and sister-in-law, Ellen.
Celebration of her life 11 a.m., Fri., March 2 at the Second Congregational Church, Newcastle.
