Marjorie L. Alley, 80, of Southport, died May 30 at the Gregory Wing of St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor after a period of declining health.
Mrs. Alley was born March 23, 1928 in Boothbay Harbor, the daughter of Richard and Gabriella Boyd McDougall, and was a graduate and Salutatorian of her class at Boothbay Harbor High School, class of 1945, and the Noyse Business School in Portland.
After raising her family, she worked for several local stores and at the Boothbay Railway Village, and was one of the founders of the Seaside School of Hope in Boothbay Harbor, a school for mentally challenged students in the 1970s.
She is predeceased by her husband Richard L. Alley, Sr. and son Richard Alley, Jr.
Survivors include her son Keith Alley and fiancée Carolyn Mitchell of Southport; grandson, Scott Alley of Southport; brother, Chandler McDougall of Tampa, Fla.; and sister, Laura Arsenault of Boothbay Harbor.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Tues., June 3, at the Simmons Harrington and Hall Funeral Home, 975 Wiscasset Rd., Boothbay. Graveside service 10 a.m., Wed., June 4 at the Decker Cemetery, Southport.
