Marjorie Clark Hewett, 85, of Jefferson, went to be with her Lord and Savior Dec. 11 after a brief period of failing health.
Mrs. Hewett was born June 28, 1923 in Lowell, Mass., the daughter of Walter and Laura Given Clark, and attended Whitefield High School, and earned her G.E.D from Waldoboro High School.
Staying home to raise her family, she helped her husband Lloyd manage his construction business, tending the books and office.
A devoted Christian and longtime member of the South Somerville Baptist Church, she was an active member in the life of the church. She also loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, doing cross word and jig saw puzzles, reading, was known as an excellent scrabble player, and entertaining family and friends.
She is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Lloyd Hewett Jr.; son, Dennis Hewett; brothers, James and Walter Clark; sister, Loretta Barnett; and son-in-law, John Gurney.
Survivors include daughters, Jean Clark and husband William of Windsor; Ann Martin and husband Charles of Jefferson; and Beth Gurney of Augusta; son, Peter Hewett and wife Diane of Hermon; sisters, Muriel Plummer of Weeks Mills, Katherine Lamkin and husband Roland of Windham, N.H., Beverly Hinkley of Chelsea, and Barbara Wakely and husband Tim of Augusta; grandchildren, Lara Dionne and husband Marty, Carrie Clark, Kristin Turcotte and husband Joe, Kami Martin, Kara Parker and husband Matt, Kasha Martin, Jessi Gurney, Brooks Gurney, and Sarah Hewett; and great-grandchildren, Kieran and Keridwen Dionne, Austin, GraceAnn and Jacob Turcotte, and Gabriella and Luke Parker.
Visiting hours 2-4 p.m., Sun., Dec. 14 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Celebration of Marjorie’s life 1 p.m., Mon., Dec. 15 at the funeral home with Rev. John Dancer officiating. Interment will be in the West Washington Cemetery.
