Marjorie E. Miller, 96, of Waldoboro, passed away peacefully March 12 at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta.
She was born on May 11, 1916 in Gardiner, the daughter of the late Maurice and Myrna Davis Benner. She grew up in Gardiner and was a graduate of Gardiner High School Class of 1933. She then went on to the Gorham Normal School where she graduated in 1935. She then went on to teach first, second, and third grade at the Randolph Primary School.
She met and married Linwood C. Miller in July of 1946. The two made their home on Dutch Neck where they raised chickens on their farm. After her husband’s passing she returned to teaching at the Bremen Elementary School from 1967 to 1970. From 1970 to 1982 she worked at Fieldcrest Manor as a CNA until she retired in 1982 to take care of her mother.
She was able to stay at her home on Dutch Neck until her health became such that she had to move in with her son Ronnie and his wife Connie. In August of 2009 she went to Cove’s Edge where she was a resident until her passing.
She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, reading, and crossword puzzles. She made sure that she voted at each election and was able to do this for the last time in November 2012.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Waldoboro. She was a past president of the Waldoboro Senior Citizens association.
She was predeceased by her husband, Linwood C. Miller in 1962 and brother, Arthur Benner in 2011.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Schrader and husband Jack of Manchester; son, Ronald L. Miller and wife Connie of Waldoboro; longtime friend, Harriet Pfuntner of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister-in-law, Christene Benner of Randolph; former sister-in-law, Frances McGraw of Augusta; and close friend, Richard Wallace of Waldoboro.

There will be no public visiting hours. Committal service will be held in the spring at the Dutch Neck Cemetery, Waldoboro.
