Marjorie L. Parker passed away on Feb. 12 in Newcastle. She was the wife of George W. Parker (deceased).
Marjorie Lillian Heckel was born on Nov. 29, 1918, in Newark, N.J. and grew up in Montclair, N.J. She graduated from Katherine Gibbs School in NYC and worked there until her marriage to George Parker when they moved to Hartford, Conn. When George returned from the war, the family, which now included two daughters, moved to New Bedford, Mass. and then later to Marion, Mass. During those years while she was a busy homemaker, Marjorie worked for many years as a volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital and then as trustee.
When they retired, they moved to Maine, enjoying their years in Waldoboro and Camden before moving to Topsham. They enjoyed traveling, and cruises were their favorite adventures.
She is survived by daughters, Joyce Dexter and Judith VanderSalm; grandchildren, Scott Stevenson, Sarah Matel and Jessica and Jamie VanderSalm, and great-grandsons, Seward and Teddy Matel.
Private family services will take place in the spring.
