Marjorie Lorraine Herald West, 88, passed away peacefully on the morning of Feb. 9 at Cove’s Edge Nursing Facility in Damariscotta, with her daughter Terry and niece Holly Spinney at her side. Born in Damariscotta on Feb. 27, 1926, she was the daughter of Lester and Isabel (Campbell) Herald.
Marjorie grew up in Damariscotta and attended local schools. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, snowmobiling, and reading. More than anything, she loved spending time with her daughter, two granddaughters, and her extended family.
She was a member of the Twin Village Women’s Club for many years.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Walter West; and siblings, Phyllis Verney, Carl Herald, Charlie Herald and wife Julie, and Douglas Herald and wife Sylvia.
She is survived by daughter, Terry Fairhurst and husband Thomas; granddaughters, Danielle Fairhurst Simpson and husband Scott of St. Thomas, and Britani Fairhurst Lavertu and husband Denny of Portsmouth, N.H.; sister, Patty Waltz and husband Robert; sister-in-law, Elsie Herald; brother-in-law, Richard Verney; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Marjorie will be held at 6 p.m., Fri., Feb. 13 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta. She will be laid to rest in the Hillside Cemetery in the summer.
