Marjory Janet Davis, of Bristol, born Feb. 17, 1923 in Lexington, Mass., passed away peacefully in her home on April 15 after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Her family including her loving husband of 65 years, daughter, three sons and four of her six grandchildren were at her side in her final days. Marjory was a dedicated wife and mother and also worked in the past as a matron and secretary to the Police and Fire departments of Acton, Mass. She had also worked as a nurse’s aid at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Mass. Marjory was the daughter of Mary J. and Robert A. McAdoo.
Marjory moved from Acton to Bristol with her husband in 1980 to fulfill a dream of living on the coast of Maine. She was instrumental in starting Christian Women’s Club in the Lincoln County area and was an active member across the U.S. and in maritime Canada. Her 30 years in Maine were spent with a wide circle of loving friends and family, volunteering in the community and enjoying hobbies ranging from church suppers and strawberry festivals to hooking rugs, antiquing and traveling to all 50 states.
Marjory is survived by her husband, Richard C. Davis; daughter, Janet; sons, Donald, Paul and Alan; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Her ashes were laid to rest at the Bristol cemetery with a family graveside service. Memorial service will be held at a future date.
