Martha B. Werler, 92, passed away on the morning of Dec. 11 at Cove s Edge in Damariscotta.
The daughter of Guy A. and Mary C. (Lash) Beane, she was born in Lynn, Mass. on June 21, 1915. Attending Lynn, Mass. schools, she graduated from Lynn High School.
She and her first husband, Roger C. Larson, resided for many years in Moultonborough, N.H., where she worked as a secretary in the insurance business, while also caring for her husband and daughter. Following his death in 1961, she came to Damariscotta where she was married to Jake Day for over 21 years. While with Jake, Martha assisted him in his art business and became proficient with tole painting and figurines. He passed away May 15, 1983.
On Dec. 15, 1985, she married Edward Werler and they lived at their home in Waldoboro until her illness. She and Ed were members of the Damariscotta Baptist Church and while in New Hampshire, she had been active with the Grange, Eastern Star and the Moultonborough Women’s Club. She also had a lifelong love for the outdoors.
Martha leaves her husband of Waldoboro; daughter, Harriet Larson Seigars of Wiscasset; two granddaughters; six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister, Barbara C. Choate of North Carolina; and several stepchildren and grandchildren, with whom she remained very close.
Martha was predeceased by her grandson, Peter Larson Bryant, in 2003.
Service to honor Martha 2 p.m., Sat., Dec. 15 at the chapel at Strong Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta with Daryl Lavway officiating. She will be laid to rest in Moultonborough, N.H. in the spring.
