Martha Verne (Webster) Libby, 70, of Bedford, Mass., passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Mass. on Aug. 20. She was a graduate of Bristol High School in Bristol with the class of 1957 and subsequently graduated from Husson College in Bangor with the class of 1959. She had worked for many years for J&S Medical Associates, Inc. in Natick, Mass. as a Customer Service Representative. Martha was active in Girl Scouts throughout her life. She was a Girl Scout leader. Martha was also active in the square dance community. She was President of Minuteman Squares in Lexington, Mass. in 1976. Martha was a friend to many and known as “The Great Communicator.”
Beloved wife of John L. Libby of Bedford, Mass. with whom she would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 23. She was the loving mother of Laura Libby Andrews and husband Bob Andrews of Chelmsford, Mass. and Diane Faith (Libby) Wilson and husband Daniel of Bolton, Mass.; doting grandmother of Emily and Ethan Andrews and Sophie Wilson; and loving sister of Linda Kemper and husband Rick of Daleville, Va. and Ronald Webster and wife Barry of Roanoke, Va.
Visiting hours 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Mon., Aug. 24 at The Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford, Mass. Funeral service 12 p.m., Tues., Aug. 25 at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
