Mrs. Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Morrison, formerly of Plattsburgh, passed away on Oct. 4 in Damariscotta following a long and valiant battle with ovarian cancer.
Born June 5, 1927 in Moore’s Forks, N.Y., Betty was the daughter of the late Lynn and Gertrude Alford.
She was a graduate of Plattsburg State University and recently took part in her 50th anniversary.
Betty loved to tend her flower gardens, and sew and knit for her ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She had just fulfilled her dream of a lifetime at the age of 80: flying in a hot air balloon in New York.
The love of her life, husband Martin Morrison, passed away three years ago. Her sister, Ruth Mikleson, also predeceased her.
She is survived by her four children, Mrs. Patty Brown and husband Richard Brown of Coopers Town, N.Y., Ms. Christie MacConnell and partner Thomas J. Hampson of Boothbay, Mrs. Suzie Zemany and husband Mike of Saranac, N.Y., and Thomas Morrison and wife Sally of Waldoboro; grandchildren, Patrick R. MacConnell, wife Kathleen and daughter, Aislynn of South Carolina, Sarah Fussey and husband Owen of New York, Jeremiah Brown and wife Candise of Massachusetts, Nathanial Brown of Georgia, Elizabeth Brown of Massachusetts, Erin Ferguson and Elise Ferguson of New York, Evan Morrison, wife Beth and children Parker and Blake of Maine, Lydia Morrison of Maine, and Thomas Morrison, partner Veronica Gould and daughter Tara of Maine; brother, Harold Alfred and wife Shirley of New York; and sisters, Eunice Babbe and husband Leeward of New York, and Shirley Walker of New York.
There will be a private memorial service.
