Mary Jane Aileen Price, 87, of Jefferson, passed away in her sleep April 29 at Glenridge nursing home in Augusta after a long illness. Mrs. Price died six days after her husband of 67 years, Peter Price, Sr.
Mrs. Price was born in Portland to Josephine and Gabriel Kilbride. She grew up with her siblings Camilla, Bernard and Geraldine and graduated from South Portland High School.
In October of 1941 she married her high school sweetheart, Peter E. Price. During WWII she worked in the South Portland Shipyard. Later she worked in bakeries and catering throughout the area.
She raised three children, Dr. Bernard Price of Amherst, Mass., the late Josephine Calder of Jefferson, and Peter Price II of Freeport. Family was the center of her life. This always was evident in her preparation of food and her beloved family picnics. She was an avid knitter, knitting many beautiful pieces for her grandbabies. She had seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
