Mary Jane (Wentworth) Lemieux, 82, of Whitefield, passed away peacefully on Sept. 4 and is with the Lord.
Mary was born in Wytopitlock to Leroy and Erma (Hewey) Wentworth on June 30, 1936. She graduated from Gardiner High School. She married Earl Lemieux on Sept. 3, 1955 in Gardiner. She worked at Augusta Mental Health Institute for 37 years. After retiring she volunteered at the Whitefield Food Pantry. She enjoyed cooking and was very good at it. Mary sewed and made many Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls and knitted mittens for children. She had a large collection of frogs. She loved her plants and her family, and loved to help people.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Virginia, Barbara, Harriett, and Polly; and brothers, George, and Donald Nelson.
Mary is survived by husband, Earl Lemieux; sons, Robert and wife Belinda of Lewiston, Chris and Darlene of Pittston, Paul of Whitefield, and Rick and Jean of Dresden; grandchildren, Robert III of Albany, N.Y., and Bethany of Lewiston; brothers, Roger and wife Vern of Florida, Vaughn and Georgeann of Skowhegan, and William and Edith of Enterprise, Ala.; and sisters, Dottie and Al MacMaster of South Gardiner, and Sandra and Frank Bumbus of Belgrade.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Sat.,, Sept. 8 at Sheepscot Valley Community Church in Whitefield. A celebration of her life will be held immediately after the service at the Whitefield Union Hall. A private burial will follow at a later date.
