Mary Louise Dozier Kennedy, 87, of Edgecomb, died peacefully on Oct. 25, at the home of her daughter in Beverly Hills, Cal.
Born on Sept. 12, 1922, in Hanover, N.H., Lonnie was the daughter of Howard D. and Katharine J. (Bailey) Dozier. She moved with her parents to Silver Spring, Md., during her early childhood. She graduated from Smith College in 1943 and married Robert M. Kennedy in 1945. They lived in Holliston and Ashland, Mass., from 1947 until 1985, when they moved to Edgecomb.
Lonnie was inspired by the serenity of nature and the beauty of Maine. In years past, she and her husband enjoyed annual trips to Chesuncook Village in the northern Maine wilderness. She adored reading and was a lifelong student of literature.
She was predeceased by her husband, who died in 1992.
She is survived by her daughters, Katharine Elizabeth Kennedy of Beverly Hills, Cal., and Sally Morse Kennedy of Hingham, Mass.; nephew, Frederick Steadman and wife Mimi of Edgecomb; and a number of cousins.
Memorial observances will be private.
