Mary Louise (Wendy) Lounsbury, 77, of Damariscotta, passed away on June 15 at her home.
The daughter of Boyd T. and Ruth Hay (Cross) Barnard, she was born May 4, 1930, in Wilmington, Del.
Wendy graduated from Oakwood Friends School in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and went on to earn her degree from Marjorie Webster Junior College in Washington, D.C.
She married Richard W. Lounsbury in 1952. They returned to Delaware where she remained active with her church as well as several civic groups. She worked in real estate for most of her adult life and was a member of the Junior League of Wilmington, Del.
In 1985, she and her husband came to Maine, residing in Damariscotta for many years. They relocated to Schooner Cove in Damariscotta where they lived until his death in 2001. She remained there until her passing.
Her grandson, Ryan B. Hopkins predeceased her.
Wendy leaves her children, Mark T. Lounsbury of Chadds Ford, Penn., and Lisa S. Lounsbury of Brunswick; brother, Lawrence C. Barnard of Palm Springs, Cal.; and grandchildren, William and Katherine Lounsbury, and Tyler, Trevor, and Chad Hopkins.
Service to honor Wendy’s life 2 p.m., Tues., June 19 at Strong Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta.
She will be laid to rest at the West Laurel Hill Cemetery, in Bala Cynwyd, Penn.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Strong Funeral Home, Damariscotta.
