Mary Ogden Hemingway, 92, of Dallas, Tex., formerly of Bremen, passed away on June 15 at her residence.
Mary was born In Ithaca, N.Y., daughter of Robert Morris and Nellie Dorsey Ogden. She graduated from Smith College in 1941 with a major in art history. Mary was married to Stuart Clayton Hemingway Jr. in 1942 and resided in Cheshire, Conn. to raise her family before moving to the beautiful Maine coast where she and Stuart built their retirement home. Mary was a resident of Bremen for 32 years and an active volunteer in the community. After the death of her husband, Mary relocated to Dallas to be near family.
Mary was a favorite aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She loved music, art, bridge and a fine martini. A gracious lady, Mary was the steadfast anchor of her family, and will be remembered for her sweet nature, kindness and sharp wit.
Mary was predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 60 years, Stuart (2002); adored daughter, Susan (2009); sisters, Margaret and Helen; and brother, Jonathan.
She is survived by children, Louise (Sam), Chip (Suzi), Ann (John) and Rob (Julia); grandchildren, Andrew (Kathy), Liza (Stephen), Rob (Meghan), Stuart (Juliet), Jonathan (Amy), Caroline (Stephen), Caroline (Matt), Christopher (Tina), Michael and Hilary; and great-grandchildren, Connor, Tabitha, Clayton, Adam, Alison, Berkley, Madeline, and Charlie.
A private memorial service will be held.
