Mary T. Wolff, 70, of Waldoboro, passed away March 19 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born July 3, 1941 in New Brunswick, N.J. to parents Dr. Eugene Andrew and Florence Martell Hauber. She went on to be a graduate of Academy of Holy Names in Albany, N.Y. as well as Seton Hall in New Jersey, her class being the first co-ed class to be admitted into the school.
A longtime teacher, she taught briefly in Washington, D.C. and Tampa, Fla. She returned to Central New Jersey, and was a high school teacher in Highland Park, while raising a family of her own in Spotswood, N.J.
After seeing her eldest son off to the Peace Corps, and his younger brother to the Marine Corps, Mary retired to Waldoboro with her husband of 44 years, Carl Wolff.
Always active in her community, Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waldoboro, the Waldoboro Woman’s Club and Garden Club, and together with her husband, served on the Salvation Army Advisory Council in Rockland.
A home maker at heart, she enjoyed nothing better than to spend her time with her children and grandchildren, and also reading books and tending to her gardens.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Wolff of Waldoboro; sons, Alexander Wolff of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Geoffrey Wolff and wife Kathleen of Somerset, N.J.; step daughter, Catherine Wolff Carlin and husband Phil of Arizona; beautiful granddaughters, Magdelyn, Mariana and Kealey, all of Somerset, N.J.; brothers, Eugene Hauber and wife Maria of Brick, N.J., and Jim Hauber and wife Nancy; and sister and best friend, Barbara Hauber Karl and husband Frank, all of Onchiota, N.Y.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held later in the spring and will be announced by Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
