Matthew Tyson Doughty, 36, of Round Pond, died unexpectedly in Damariscotta Feb. 21. He was born May 17, 1972 in Augusta.
Matthew graduated from Lincoln Academy and later earned multiple commercial diving certificates from Ocean Corporation of Houston, Tex. Matthew followed his love of the ocean and diving as an underwater constructor and welder off the west coast of Africa and Gulf of Mexico.
He was the husband of Charlotte Peterson-Doughty. They were married in a formal ceremony at Pemaquid Point this past Oct. 18.
Matthew was loved dearly by his family. They have vivid fond memories of Matthew and his younger sister growing up in the Dresden area. They remember his strength of will and his love of travel and adventure.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; sister, Sarah Doughty of Gorham; mother, Nancy Bailey; father, Sylvanus Doughty of Gorham; niece, Allyssa Doughty of Gorham; and many cousins and other family members.
