Mechelle Spencer Webb, 66, of Southport, passed away Aug. 23 as a result of an automobile accident.
Mechelle was born June 27, 1945 in Hattiesburg, Miss., a daughter of the late Roy James Spencer Sr. and Maryann French Spencer.
She grew up in a military family and one of the places she grew up in was Okinawa, Japan. Her family later settled in Hattiesburg, Miss. where she graduated high school and continued her education at the University of Southern Mississippi.
In 1978 she married Sonny Webb and they made their home in Southport where they have lived ever since.
She was employed as a sign painter, school teacher in Edgecomb, East Boothbay and as a high school substitute.
She had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed spending time camping, kayaking, walking and the Beach at Dogfish Head. She was creative and enjoyed crafting, crocheting and teaching her grandchildren to learn her art.
She and Sonny spent time going to flea markets and spending time together at camp.
She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Deborah Spencer in 1987.
Survivors include her loving husband, Sonny Webb, of Southport; daughters, Cindy Bibber Mayberry and husband Kevin of Boothbay Harbor and Cheri Bibber of Wiscasset; son, Shaun Webb of Windham; brothers, Roy J. Spencer Jr. of Arlington, Va. and William F. Spencer of Boothbay Harbor; sister, Marcia Longo and husband Tommy of Waveland, Miss.; grandchildren, Zac Spear and companion Linsey Grover of Boothbay Harbor, Keegan Spear of Boothbay, Riley Spear of Boothbay Harbor, Spencer Vogt of Wiscasset, Drew Bibber of Wiscasset, Casey Dalton of Wiscasset and Stephanie and Sarah Webb of Windham; “adopted” granddaughter, Sarah Wilaglm of Buckfield; and great-grandson, Davian James Sewall of Boothbay.
A celebration of her life held Aug. 28 at Simmons, Harrington & Hall, Boothbay with Rev. Robin Honaker officiating.
